Tuchel Criticizes Home Fan Atmosphere Despite Dominant Wales Victory.

Thomas Tuchel expressed his regret that the England team did not get more encouragement from the home fans during their commanding friendly win against Wales on Thursday evening.

The manager was satisfied to see his side maintain their strong performance, with strikes from Morgan Rogers, Watkins, and Saka inside the initial stages deciding the contest. Yet, he was displeased with the mood at the iconic venue.

“With limited sessions to get ready against a well-trained team and we did very well,” the coach remarked. “We could have been 5-0 up at half-time. We couldn’t score the additional goals. It was quiet. There was no support back from the crowd. We did everything to win.”

“How much more can you provide in 20 minutes? We prevented them escape. When you only hear just Wales fans for 30 minutes, it’s sad because the team deserved greater backing today.”

“I maintain this statement. There’s nothing more than being three goals up in a derby. I would have wished for a little more backing in phases where it gets difficult.”

“After halftime, to cheer us on, there was a bit too much backing for the opposition. It might have aided us to recharge, but it is what it is and that is it.”

Selection Choices Vindicated by Performance

Away from potentially starting a fight with fans, Tuchel also created controversy by omitting Bellingham and Foden from his squad. But the move was justified by Rogers excelling in the No 10 position and getting his maiden goal for his country.

“He plays his game,” Tuchel explained. “He is a No 10 and he is vying for his spot.”

Wales Manager Hopes for Improvement from Defeat

The Wales manager hopes that his team, who host a strong Belgian side in a important qualifying match on next week, take lessons from their awful performance in the opening period.

“This is why I wanted this match,” the manager said. “I need to see our standing. Where do we want to go? What is our identity? This performance gives me motivation.”

Fitness Worry for Watkins

Ollie Watkins was substituted at the break after clattering into a goalpost and will be a doubt when England face Latvia in the Latvian capital in a qualifier on next week.
